One dead, two injured in Bolivian mining dispute
The clash was the result of a three-year-old land dispute between two cooperatives

A confrontation between two mining cooperatives left one dead and two injured near the mining town of Guanay, north of Bolivia's capital, La Paz.
Gold miners from one of the cooperatives, Primero de Mayo, allegedly ambushed miners from the Gran Poder cooperative with firearms and dynamite to take control of a mining camp along the Tipuani River.
According to local media, the clash was the result of a three-year-old land dispute that worsened in December last year.
The La Paz police said it would deploy more officers to reinforce the Guanay police.
The Tipuani River and Bolivian Amazon are plagued with illegal gold mining, facing increasing environmental issues such as deforestation and pollution.
Gold is Bolivia's second largest export product. The country exported over $3 billion worth of the precious metal in 2022.
